This was another reworking from one of my old 50s dresses into a 40s shirt. I bought this fabric from a real nice fabric store, and in a whim, made this dress I wore only once. So, I decided to 'make due and mend' and create something else out of this rich fabric.
I LOVE this color combination. The plaid looks black, but its really a deep navy, and to me, very 40s.

All the pieces had to be serged, and because I ran out of fabric for one of the sleeves, I had to serge each matched piece and fit them together. One sleeve took me over two hours just because of that alone. |

But the outcome was worth it. I took in this patten a bit on the sides and now its a more fitted fit. I also used the pockets that were for the suit jacket design of this pattern (the old sleeves from the dress) and I like them a lot more. Much deeper. |
