Denim with Velvet applique

This skirt is from some denim I got on a recent outing. I used my Simplicity pattern for it, but took out the kick pleat in the back.

I added the applique using wonder under to hold down the velvet. I then used my button hole stitch to outline the applique, and there you go!

I do like it, and it skirt fits great and snug at the top. I tend to make my skirts too large when I use the bottoms of dresses, I keep having to remind myself that I need to make the waists smaller on those.

Someone said the flowers reminded them of the poppies that are sold by Veterans on Remembrance day. I thought that was sweet.
