I was reading in one of my sewing books that a 'lovely quilted' jacket would be 'a great addition to any wardrobe'.

Okay.

I have been around quilters, so I knew how laborious the process was. The book mentioned having a quilting foot, which I dont, so instead, as suggested, I drew 1" square lines all over the top of the fabric so I would have a guide. That took two days.

The three layers for fabric, batting, and muslin.

After I bought the cotton batting, muslin for backing, and 100% cotton thread, I laid out the fabric on the floor, and from the inside out I began smoothing and pinning the fabric to the batting that was on the muslin.

I tried to sew broad lines across the quilt in order to keep everything as even as I could. Working with all that fabric was cumbersome, and at times I had to give my machine a rest because I realized that I was sewing continuously for hours on end.

To quilt the entire yardage took about three days. Once that was all done I began cutting out the pieces.
