When I first got this pattern, I didn't particularly like it. I thought it was so not my style, and I just put it in the back of my pattern box.

The challenge for this dress is that the diagonal front is literally on the bias. I had to make sure that I didn't stretch out the fabric or the front would gape too much. I ran a basting stitch along the cut to help keep it in place.

I also wanted to make this a bit more 40s in skirt length than I normally do. The skirt is a bit shorter than my comfortable 30s lengths (hence the longer slip coming out of the bottom of the pic).

That front seam at the lowest button was surprisingly easy to do without a lot of mending. I hate seams like that, but it worked rather well.
