When I first got this pattern, I didn't particularly like it. I thought it was so not my style, and I just put it in the back of my pattern box. The challenge for this dress is that the diagonal front is literally on the bias. I had to make sure that I didn't stretch out the fabric or the front would gape too much. I ran a basting stitch along the cut to help keep it in place. The dress progress can be found on the ole blog. |

I also wanted to make this a bit more 40s in skirt length than I normally do. The skirt is a bit shorter than my comfortable 30s lengths (hence the longer slip coming out of the bottom of the pic). |
That front seam at the lowest button was surprisingly easy to do without a lot of mending. I hate seams like that, but it worked rather well. |
